Thermo Scientific PikoReal Real-Time PCR System
Quantitative PCR for gene copy number and expression studies.
The PikoReal is a real-time (quantitative) PCR system that measures fluorescence during every cycle of amplification. By comparing samples against a standard curve, it determines how many copies of a target gene were present at the start of the reaction.
qPCR is often the most cost-effective way to answer a focused question, such as how abundant a particular organism or functional gene is across a set of samples, without sequencing everything.
Applications
- Absolute quantification of target genes and organisms
- Relative gene expression (RT-qPCR)
- Library quantification before sequencing
- Melt curve analysis and assay validation
- Monitoring of specific microbes in process and environmental samples
Typical Sample Types
DNA and cDNA extracts; RNA can be reverse transcribed in house.
