Thermo Scientific Sorvall WX Ultracentrifuge
Ultracentrifugation for pelleting and density gradient separations.
An ultracentrifuge spins samples under vacuum at very high speeds, producing forces large enough to pellet viruses, membranes, ribosomes and macromolecules that would not separate in a standard centrifuge.
The Sorvall WX is used for concentration and purification steps and for density gradient work, where particles are separated by their buoyant density.
