Two specialized instruments have been added to our laboratory this spring:

The Thermo Scientific Sorvall WX Ultracentrifuge supports high-speed and ultracentrifuge separations needed for subcellular fractionation, nucleic acid isolation by density gradient, and other applications requiring forces beyond what our existing centrifuges can provide.

The TA Instruments TAM III Microcalorimeter measures extremely small heat flows associated with biological, chemical, and physical processes. Applications include microbial activity measurement, cement hydration studies, stability testing, and any investigation where thermal activity is a useful indicator of process behavior.

Both instruments support niche but important client applications that we previously could not serve in-house. Their addition reflects our continuing effort to build a broad, practical toolkit rather than focusing narrowly on any single discipline.
