In addition to our Illumina MiSeq platform, we have added an Oxford Nanopore MinION with Flongle adapter to our sequencing capability. This gives our clients access to long-read nanopore sequencing technology alongside our existing short-read Illumina platform.

The MinION excels at applications where long reads are advantageous: structural variant detection, full-length gene sequencing, species identification from long amplicons, and rapid turnaround projects where the real-time sequencing capability is useful. The Flongle adapter provides a lower-cost option for smaller projects and quality-control runs.

We are not positioning nanopore as a replacement for Illumina sequencing — the two technologies complement each other well. Having both allows us to recommend the most appropriate platform for each client's project based on their specific requirements for read length, throughput, accuracy, and budget.
